BIG WIND - UTILITY SCALE WIND


Typically refers to wind turbines larger than 500 kilowatts (kW) that are developed with electricity delivered to the power grid and distributed to the end user by electric utilities or power system operators.


The Big-Wind category refers to markets wind turbines with capacity of 500 kW (0.5 Megawatts) and higher. These are turbines built for utility-scale infrastructure projects (i.e., wind farms) or industrial settings that require a significant amount of energy.


To service this market, SP Power Farm Group have developed the exoPOWER3.0 EAWT with 3.0 Mega Watt (MW) capacity.



MEDIUM/MID WIND


Medium-size turbines range from 50 kW to 500 kW and are for medium-scale industrial operations. Wind turbines that range from 250 kW to 500 kW and are used in wind farms for commercial production of electric power.  


These are turbines built for self-sustaining communities, including high rise buildings, commercial settings, cooperatives, farming operations, etc.  


The exoPOWER turbines designed for the mid-wind category can be installed on rooftops, and as free-standing turbines.  Typically, these turbines generate power that will be utilized right at source, and any unused power can be stored to be used at a later time or be sold to the utility grid through a standing offer program with utility companies.


To service this market, SP Power Farm Group have developed the exoPOWER250 EAWT with a 250 kW capacity.



SMALL WIND


Micro-generation turbines range in size from 50 watt to 10 kW.  In this category, consumers are increasingly choosing to purchase grid-connected turbines in the 5 to 10 kW range to power their whole homes. Small wind turbines range in size from 8 kW – 50 kW and are used for small business or small farm applications. This size of turbine was typically used extensively for off-grid applications but has now become popular in jurisdictions that allow interconnection with the utility grid. Small farms usually require a turbine with a capacity between 10 kW and 50 kW.
